Walkera will see the necessity of providing a firmware image not for reflashing the software (every Dove has a working version), but for functional updates. So it is really great that PhracturedBlue made it happen but this can not really tell us something about the quality of the Walkera support.
Although I believe they can not work as hard as PB can...

Walkera's engineering team seems to be consistently ahead of the support team. That isn't surprising. My guess is that they had a supply-chain issue, couldn't get any more of the devo8 lcd modules, and switched manufacturers. The software guys were able to do a patch and get everything working without a hiccup....They just never got around to making the firmware available on the website. As with the Devo7e before hand, I'm sure they'll get enough complaints of people installing a 'bad' firmware that it will necessitate them providing the firmware sooner rather than later.

Sounds like a reasonable chain of events to me...

Since I'm the one that has the new fangled incompatible 8S, I'll continue to gently push the Support group to get the proper version posted to the website as soon as possible. I stumbled into the problem, I'll see it through so no one else has to endure any grief...

Cheers

Do you have any experience with the 12S?

I am so lost I restored back to walkera firmware and that appears to have been successful but, I really desire to have this new firmware and all it's benefits.

I know you are busy but, I am reaching out to you for help. Also, I could not find you downloads for templates. Not sure they would work on my 12S anyway.

Please help, won't you?

Steve

Steve,

I don't have any experience with the 12S and don't have any downloads for templates, just models.

That's good you got your 12S working!

It's been a week of talking to Walkera tech support, and their best recommendation is that I send my new Devo8S back to the factory so that they can figure out what's wrong with it...

I'm still trying to convince them that "they already have the solution" since I received it from them in working condition...

I apologize that I'm not able to get Walkera to cough up the updated software on my own. Perhaps anyone else who is having this problem could pester the support folks too so that they might attain the realization that there indeed may be a problem...

I'll keep pestering...

Cheers

First, I don't see that you upgrade firmware and config at corresponding tabs. You need press 'Upgrade' button on each tab.

Second, possible that you have latest Devo 8s with new LCD, that doesn't work with original firmware v0.8 and v0.9. You can check this on sticker at battery box, at the left from battery, firmware v1.0. At current time there is only one solution - flash Deviation firmware fron Nightly builds.

I just updated my 8S deviation V2.1.1 to V3.0.0
My screen's numerical value now appears like this on this picture from page to page.
What am I doing wrong?
Thanks,
Spyro

Have you put the filesystem on your tx? It looks like missing fonts. You should save your models, overwrite the filesystem, restore your models and calibrate touch screen and sticks to complete the upgrade process.

I first saved my models in my PC. Then, deleted the the old FS from the previous version.
Upgrade to v3.0.0 then drag and dropped the new FS. I tried doing it several times and ends up the same screen appearance. I also tried to restore my 2 models, and still looks the same.
Everytime I go back the previous FW version, everything is OK.

I'm pretty lost...

Do you have a structure like this in your file system?
├───media
├───modelico
├───template
├───models
├───language
├───layout
└───tx.ini
You should not have a directory "filesystem" nor "devo8", only those mentioned.
Can you confirm this?

I break my brain but I don't remember what I had to do when I had the same some months ago. I was pretty sure the file system was incorrect, but you updated from a working deviation so there should be no real difference (ok, directory layout is new...).

I havn't idea what is it. I think the font is the same for labels and controls. Can you try flash firmware from Nightly Builds?

The firmware is from nightly builds:
- deviationtx.com/repository/Deviation-Rel...10-7e058aa9d523.zip/

- What about the "deviation-emu_devo8-v3.0.0-8a4a0b.zip" file? Do I need that as well?
I only updated the FW to v3.0.0 and the file system.

I have repeated it over 10X and screen shows the same thing.

You don't need the emu file - it contains the emulator for running on a pc.

If you have correctly installed the 8a4a0b-version you should at least see a new directory "layout" on the usb device - if not something has gone wrong.

You should have used these: Devo8-dfu from 28-6 and the corresponding fs: Devo8-filesystem from 28-6 . It is important that you use the corresponding fs to the dfu-file, not the one from official 3.0.0 release.

You are right - I did not try it myself until now. I just have taken the link targets of the download page to point directly to the wanted files.

It will be different today because the nightlies have changed.
Please ignore the links I have posted above and choose carefully the correct files from the nightly download page (deviation-devo8-v3.0.0-XXXXXX.zip and deviation-fs-devo8-v3.0.0-XXXXXX.zip).

Sorry for the confusion.
