It could be a problem with the built in 4in1 module of the T8SG.
In the 4in1 modules for Walkera Devo TX´s there was (is?) a clone NRF24L01+ RF chip installed which is a bit out of specification for certain protocols. You can find some information here: E010 bind problems and here: 4in1 module NRF24L01+ clone specs and fix

It also happened to me, I got two 4in1 modules (bought mid of 2016) and installed them into a Devo F12E and a Devo 12S, both wont bind to recently bought E010 and JJRC H36 (clones).
I wanted to (and probably will) exchange the crystal loading capacitors as written in one of the linked posts above (no easy task because of my shaky hands...).
But I have already bought (start of 2018) a new 4in1 module because the vendor of the 4in1 has seemingly reacted to the problem and applied a fix (dont know if genuine NRF chip or load capacitors of crystal were changed). I swapped the 4in1´s of the F12E and now it can bind to both of the mentioned quads.
Again, not sure if this is also the problem in your T8SG but maybe it is a place to start.

I'll probably do the mod, but I just want to check out how it works on my demo f12e first

devo12 will work without problems, but "media" folder will be inaccessible (at library file).

devof4, devof7 and devof12e have unstable compact filesystem (devo.fs), and at any time you can get damaged filesystem.

Well, I flashed the "non-XMS" build last night and everything seems to be working? So what has been "left out"?

without the mod there is no way to run deviationtx firmware which allows you to add more protocols and modules.. also it enable you to get more out of your remote control in a sense that it allows more modifications to be made

I've tried to read the entire thread and even search on the forums a bit, I'm sure this has been answered before so my apologies, just couldn't find it.

I see that XMS builds are for modded extra memory, but I can't seem to find out what the benefits are?

I mean, it has more space, so for future development but am I missing out without the mod right now?

Ok, i have order booster, and i return ti firmaware 1.6b . I have buy booster and i want insert It in the radio. Is easy for me. 2w aplificator.

If you try to use protocol that use additional RF module (A7105, C2500, NRF24L01) it normal since you don't have that module. Disabled protocols have * in front of name.

Ok i have install firmaware , but in Power TX there is default setting and is blocked... No change . Is normal?

I just purchased a TALI 500 and have flown it without the iLOOK camera. Once I hook the camera up, the gimbal works fine. I am powering the camera up with a 3S lipo and I get a "not supported" on my DEVO F12E screen. I thought I may need a firmware upgrade. But before I do anything, has anyone came across this? Is there an easy fix?

Just flashed your latest build onto Devo 12S and F12E (both XMS), all went well and response esp. on the Devo 12S is very good.

One question: on the 12S at homescreen (after power on), is it supposed to need a long-press ENT in order to get the "cursor" onto the configuration icon?
If I remember correct earlier it was just a short press which brought you to the TX-main menu (selection of TX confic, Model config, etc., etc.) which is now gone. This is no problem at all, I am just curious.

For Devo F12E will you have to use nightly builds.

Just for testing:
By the way, 128x64x1 GUI also use this feature, but it difficult to see the difference.

Now I can't find any GUI problems, tested with devo8, devo12-XMS, T8SG and devof12e-XMS.
