It's not a switch. I don't see the problem, it's simply converter from channel value to trim sets.

I'm more with FDR on this one, as this maybe a simple solution but not very straightforward from the deviation philosophy. If on the other hand we could not only define a virtual channel but also a virtual SWITCH (VSWx with any custom number of states) thinks could get interesting...

If we choose to go with vlads idea, I also don't like the arbitrary chosen 6 states, as the channel values required for this are really awkward to read and memorize! Maybe stick with 5 (40 % steps) or even go to 8 (25 % steps) or 10 (20 % steps) states?

But I forget about flight mode switch, so it doesn't help, anyway we need 6-pos switch.

Actually it is a switch now, it is even labeled as "Switch".
That's another question that we can use anything as a switch, like channel values for example, but ATM in deviation every switch value should be interpreted as boolean.
What you describe more like the toggle definition of the main page config.
There you select a complex switch (not an actual switch state) and set bitmaps to the different states of that switch.
Even that behavior is more alike with the current virtual channel bundle.
If you make them depend on an analogue value, it will be hard to configure which level corresponds which trimset, not to mention that you won't be able to use a simple 3 state switch for it, like you do now, but would always need a virtual channel with complex mixing...

I guess ir's slightly difficult using pots for flight modes.
Usually we use switches because we can know current flight mode only to touch these switches or at a glance.
Knob of pots do not have indication protrusion.

using same ID in RCGroups.
