any difference to perform trim on the native devo Tx sticks (CH2-4) rather than using CH9-11 ?

i asked myself the same question. did some tests and could not at the time tell any difference. may need more testing
I still have both setups in tx
in the end i went with 9,10 and 11 as i figure there may be some reason they dedicated these channels

My guess (as I haven't update to the latest nightly yet) is:
In 6G mode, should there are offsets in the gyro calibration, you can try to balance them by the usual stick trim for the CURRENT flight only. After the flight ends and you start up another flight after battery replacement, the flight control on board the heli would again thinks the trimmed stick is in fact the new centre and void any trims you have performed in the first flight.
To say it simple, with the stick trim, you have to perform trim on every subsequent flights..
But with CH9-11, I guess it would trim the gyro and so once balanced, it will take effect for many flights to come until the gyros are offset again..
Please see if it makes sense in your next flight...

The extra channels are used as virtual channels which act as switches for example to switch between dual rates or between 3g/6g mode, I believe.
I have a devo7e.
