Devo 8s Bricked? white screen was created by Fabrice
Hi,
I've ordered a Devo 8s when I saw all the possibilities it had with the firmware deviation.
I've received it today, and tried to install the firmware (3.00).
I followed the instructions found on this forum.
I installed the file devo8.dfu with no problems. Then I've tried passing on "usb mode" (with ENT and power on), however usb key on the screen hasn't appear. But the computer still detect the devo 8S as a usb key and I can format it. Then I've removed the "system files" on devo 8.
I've switched off the devo 8 but when i've started it again, a white screen has appeared.
I've tried to solve the problem by installing a different firmware (2.1) with the same result.
I've also tried putting the offical firmware (with Library) without any success.
I hope you will be able to help me because I feel lost...
Sorry for my bad English but I'm french

If inside battery box you have firmware label v1.0, you got Devo 8s with new LCD screen. This problem solved after firmware v3.0, so you can try flash firmware from Nightly Builds.

Hi there,
After a few white screens i had the last days, comming from "ddf6350",
today i updated my Devo 8s with the new release 3.0 nightly from 12th August.
But after flashing and updating the lib the screen stays white.
It seems to react and function propperly.. but the screen is always white.
Edit as i write this: It seems to be my crappy Batteries... Changed back with some fresh it works fine...

Glad it is resolved, just remember (and I it mention here to prevent future confusion), Deviation for the Devo8s (and Devo7e/10) does not have a lib file to be loaded as does the stock Walkera firmware. Deviation has a flash filesystem to be copied via the USB flashdrive interface.
Deviation creates a lib file only for the Devo12s.

Hi Everyone - I'm having a similar problem after flashing my Devo 8 (not 8S, old LCD screen) to Deviation 3.0.0 and the nightlies. Original Devention version on the radio was 0.8A, therefore, it should have the older LCD screen. I followed the installation procedure to the letter and see only a blank screen on my radio after I've formatted the lib drive and extracted the lib files to the directory. The firmware flash is successful.
I successfully rolled back to Devention 0.9A from the Walkera web-site, so the radio is good. Fresh NiMH AA batteries. I tried the Deviation flash procedure several times - no success.
I tried both 3.0.0 and the latest nightly - same blank screen when I power up after the flash and formatting/extraction.
Any ideas? I really don't want to buy a Spektrum DX6i.

The procedure is:
- flash deviation dfu file
- format new usb drive
- copy filesystem there
The last point is important: you will find the filesystem in the corresponding zip file. But do not copy the higher directories (filesystem/devo7), only the subdirectories. So the root of the usb drive must contain the folders media, models, modelico, ... If those are not there, you will have only a blank screen because deviation does not find any fonts or images.

After formatting the USB drive, I extracted files directly from the filesystem zip file to the USB root directory. I'll try again and ensure that the language, media, modelico, models, and template directories are in the root. Thanks!
