Help heard a pop in trasmitter was created by shadow
Ok i was setting up my new model in my devo 8s on a devo 12 rx.
I had a 3s battery hooked up.

When I heard a pop and the TX was dead unplug the battery and could smell fried circuits. I opened it up but nothing looks burnt :S

What should I check?

Edit:
Ok further disassemble I found this on the back side of the board does anyone know what this is? It looks like maybe a transistor.

update:
Further investigation got the tx to power up without the module. After removing the rf shield Found burnt board.

Update: The part that fried on the main board is a IRLML6401PbF

I assume you had the 3s hooked up to the rx through an esc...

3s is definitely too high voltage for the 8S. It usually runs with 4xAA = 6V and some folks here drive it with a 2S (up to 8.4V), most with a voltage reducing diode).

I think it will be a voltage regulator what is burned.

I can't tell what you fried on the Tx from those pics, but it looks like the CYRF module is shot. It will likely be easier to just buy a new one, but if you want to replace it, it is that 5pin board next to the bit (227J) Cap. The cap looks like it may also be shot from your pics.

Does your Tx power on/off with the power-switch when you remove the module (it sounds like it does?) If so, you didn't blow the power-on FET. Otherwise, you probably blew the P-Fet that controls power-on. you can replace it with nearly any P-fet (or even PNP though it will affect the voltage calibration if you get one with too much Vds drop).
