Project Website was created by MatCat
I just want to note I am a web developer by profession, and Joomla is an area of expertise for me. I did offer to host the project site before, and I still offer that
.
I still notice slow downs sometimes from the site, though not as bad as before. Plus if we wanted to I could setup redmine or equivelent for us, and we could host our own project and have trackers, wiki, etc.

Cool!
I'm not really a web developer. I didn't do much, just installed Joomla and the Kunena forum, duplicated a template and changed a few bits...
What name you can provide? Do you have DNS servers too?
What do you need for the move?
I will make an ftp login for you to the files, and an SQL dump.
Do you need any special in the SQL beyond creates and inserts?

Ok so we are up and running. We need to think of a domain to use perminately
.
I can get domains for $1.99 so I can handle that once we have a name (Though it may have to wait a week or so)
Let me know what direction we want to go with the website and I will work on it.

Download links do not work. I corrected the links to the new location, but still not found...
The "downloads" directory might not be included in the backup.
Please copy them!

I think we should use deviationtx.org
It represents the project well and it is available.

The forum software is pretty, and overall I'm satisfied with it, but I'd really like to be able to change the number of posts/page. 6 posts per page is a ridiculously small number.
I'd also like the ability to disable smileys in a given post.
also, the font used for the edit window is very small.
Any chance we can fix some of this stuff?

Yeah, I do believe there are personal settings for how many posts per page, though I will change the default to 10? (I personally set it to 20 myself).
I will look into the smileys, and for sure the edit window could be made bigger.

I don't suppose you know how to change the # of posts per page as a user setting? I looked through all the settings I can find, and I don't see anything like that. I generally set it to 25 for most boards.

I may need to install some plugins first, I will set it to 20 globally now though.

I've invited several of the folks from the rcgroups forum over here. My main reasons for not advertising this forum are as follows:
a) I want to stay focused on technical discussions until we have something useful. We could achieve this by having a forum which is read-onlyto everyone, with only developers able to post, though I'm not sure the forum software supports that
b) I don't want to deal with moderation. As soon as we open this up, we'll start getting spam accounts and need to deal with moderation, and I don't want to deal with it. If someone has an idea to deal with this, I'm open to suggestions.
c) We still need a domain. I think www.deviationtx.com is fine, and will be happy to purchase it, but I'm not sure what Matcat needs to do to hook it up.

I can deal with signup spam, I have ways to work with that... as far as read only forums for devs I could make that work too...
For the domain just set the nameservers to ns1.earthshost.com and ns2.earthshost.com and let me know what it is and I can easily convert the site over to the domain.

Ok it's setup, it can take up to 48 hours for DNS records to propegate and allow it to work (usually less then 2 hours though)

One other request. Can we install a module to allow backing up the database? Something like Akeeba? There is a lot of good info on this site, and I'd like to be able to occasionally take a backup in case of catastrophic failure.
Edit: And yep, new domain seems to be working for me too
