What's the purpose of metal tube at the end of antennas?

Can anyone give me a nice way to mount 2nd/3rd antenna(s) for 2nd/3rd module?
I dont want to make my DEVO 12S looks like a Triceratops.

It's dipole antenna, one half is metal tube and other half is cable inner conductor with its insulation.

How are these antennas different from ones without tube? Higher gain?
I broke the thin wire off a Rx, only the tube is left.
I'm not sure if it's OK to fix it like those antennas without tube.

Higher gain, better match to cable impedance, better efficiency.

You can fix it the same way.
