Devo 7E main PCB component ID help was created by Fyathyrio
Helped a friend install an NRF module in his Devo 7E, the previous owner had hacked in a module using twisted wires, DuPont connectors, booger solder, ect. We tested with everything loosely put together, and it worked fine, but when he bolted it up, he pinched a wire or something and let the magic smoke out. Damage to what looks like a FET was too much to read the info on the chip, so I was hoping somebody can help ID it so we can get a replacement.
It's located under the pitch/roll sticks, on the left as you look at the opened up Devo.
The chip is shown with red arrow, close up view below.
Thanks,
Mark

looks like an FM02G (or FMO2G) transistor.
Based on this and looking at my Tx, it bridges the power jumper, and so is likely a power P-FET.
My Devo8 used a
IRLML6401 which is probably equivalent, since the power circuit on all Devo radios is basically the same.
You can use any PFET that can sink more than an amp and has low Rds. I used a generic to92 p-fet from radio shack when I blew that exact same tx on my devo8.
Just checked and looks like I used a BS250 which is in no way an appropriate replacement as it has terrible Rds and low power sink, but still it has been running fine for a couple years now. So find any old P-fet and stick it in there
BTW, the power circuit for the Devo8 is here:
www.deviationtx.com/downloads-new/catego...power-switch-circuit
The 7e wil be basically the same

Awesome info...thanks!
I don't have the radio in hand right now as dude went home...but I have some left over 20V 4.2A SOT--23 P-FETs (I hope P anyway) I originally purchased for upgrading the old brushed motor drivers on Nano QX and Micro MWC FC. Would these work as long as it's the proper size? Also, is there a way to confirm a FET is N or P when no official data sheet / purchase info can be found to confirm what I think I have? (I wrote P on the yellow sticky note I put in bag, so that's likely correct, but I would hate to be wrong and release more magic smoke.)
Thanks again!
ETA: Found the purchase info from about 2 years ago, N FETs unfortunately.

Maybe this helps

You can ask in English, too.

There is a project "AVR Transistor Tester" on German forum Mikrocontroller.net supported by the author Karl-Heinz KübbelerFyathyrio wrote: Also, is there a way to confirm a FET is N or P when no official data sheet / purchase info can be found to confirm what I think I have?

OK, if I've understood everything properly,
these should work?

that looks like it is a negative voltage version, wouldn't you need the positive voltage version?

I've desoldered the Mosfet and threw it onto the transistor tester.
PNP Mosfet.

FET'S you purchased to drive a brushed motor are 100% for sure N-FET's.
If you have one of these cool $15 testers you wouldn't need to buy anything, take apart almost any electronic device and you'll have plenty of parts to choose from. I have a drawer with [literally] thousands of transistors in it. All would be trash if it weren't for the tester, probably one of my mode headache saving pieces of equipment I've ever purchased!

Yes, that should be fine. It is the lead-free version of what was in my Devo8. The voltage on a PFet is always negative, because it is measured from drain to source.. Make sure you do not use more than a 12V battery/charger though as I believe this transistor is before the LDO.

Also, if you are trying to find a SOT part to replace, make sure to check the pinout. They are not all the same. You want it as in the data-sheet for the IRLML6401 (gate top-left, drain center-right, source bottom left)

Thanks to everybody for the assistance! We got this now.
Looks like I need to get one of those testers, seems pretty handy.

So I've blown the same FET on my devo7e and one of the guys on RCGroups has offered to send me a replacement. I was wondering, in the meantime if I could continue using it. I can cycle the power by unplugging and plugging the battery pack in and everything works normally. Will this cause any sort of damage? Am I best off not using it until a new FET is installed?

if you blew the power fet, the transmitter really shouldn't turn on at all (unless it blew in a shorted condition, which would be an odd way for a FET to fail). Are you sure this is the issue? You can apply a jumper across the FET (There are pins near by) which will result in it powering up when the battery is attached, and this is perfectly safe except that you need to manually save the changes before unplugging the battery (assuming you are running Deviation. I don't know how the stock firmware reacts to this)

yeah, doesn't look good. Anyhow, you won't damage anything by continuing to use it.

Awesome. Got a new quad coming this week and was hoping that this one tiny little fet was going to stop me from flying.

Make sure it's a P-FET!
Also, it's unlikely it's shorted state will change but I don't think I'd trust it to fly, I'd short the bypass like PB explained.

The bypass is the two holes directly below the p fet, right?
