Altitude hold and devos

I've got a regular devo 7e with nrf module. I've just bought my first altitude hold quad (Hubsan h502e) and am considering installing the module for this but wondered is it practical to fly altitude hold without a spring to centre the throttle?

Sure. You just center the stick manually.
