devo 7e nightly builds was created by johnw
its all very new to me this upgrading and flashing of builds, but have managed to install the NRF24L01chip and have deviation v5.0.0 installed on my devo7e I am hoping to fly a eachine E10 and believe I need to download a nightly build, and looking at the nightly builds there are 2 for the devo 7e the only difference being 1 has 256 in-front of the v5.0.0 so which is the right 1 to download, (or flash as you may call it) sorry if it seems like a dumb ? but new to this stuff and just trying to keep up to speed with the grandkids thanks in advance to anyone that can help. johnw

The one without "256".
The "256" version is for the so called ultimate 7E for those, who replaced the MCU of their 7E with a more capable one...

Oh no, it's not that this guy did something wrong or stupid. It's about the fact that we have two firmware sets for the same model. I regret that we did not call it Devo 77E, or something different at all - there would be no confusion at least.

Yes excactely, that I also mentioned, we must not anymore name files devo7e remove it and change to 'Ultimate 256' etc whatever.
The people who did upgrade there 7e, to an ultimate version will understand and we can mention it in the opening topic.

Maybe just totally remove the "7e" from the string all together? Call it something like "Ultimate256" or "Devo Mighty Mini" or really anything that didnt start with "7e"

Agree with cereal killer. People who've made their 7e an Ultimate won't need to be told what to download
Might as well call it ultimate256

The problem with that is some people are going to see that file still and think "oh well I've range modded it and added the two 3-way switches, that must mean mine is an 'ultimate 7E' so clearly this is the file for me!"
IMO anyone who's able to do the soldering needed for a 64-pin uC swap should have enough reasoning power / logic to know how to find the correct dfu file for their application even without word "7E" in the string name, the same cant be said about every 7E owner and their abilities to differentiate between what makes the 256k version different from a stock one (I guarantee you <90% of users have no clue what micro is used inside their stuff or even care nor could they remember if you told them). To some that range mod and adding 2 switches is the most in-depth work they've ever done before and to those folks it's pretty much is the ultimate 7E in their eyes...

What if I name it devo-u256? There will be questions (and maybe even internet searches
), but no disappointment of not working download.

Why not "Devo U7e"? Prefix 'U' will be good indicator that it is not ordinary Devo 7e.

but 2 of mine are 384k and one 512k so u256 would be wrong, plus there's only 244k memory available due to pb's bootloader hack so 256 is way wrong
o/j u256 is a good option
