Do i need to go to the 8s to uses other protocols?? I only want to uses devo and w2601 right now..

I think it will work but without telemetry support. Devo 8 RF module doesn't support telemetry.

At any case, you can replace RF module to 4in1 module and you will have full featured Deviation transmitter.
