Use 74595 to switch chips in 4-in-1

I read the spec of 74595. It only needs 3 lines which is able to control up to 8 CE lines. I plan to add a 4-in-1 in my devo. but I am not expert to solider, I am think if can use that to avoid solider direct to MCU pins. Anyone tried something similar before?
