I'm not sure if possible to use single build for F4, F7, and F12E. The problem is DevoFS, it is very different from FAT and they can't be used together. Too many things for that changing at build time.

OK, I would say start with a new F12E-4MB target, and we will see if there is a demand for the rest.
How should we call it to avoid the usual confusion?

Since as far as I see those chips are not all 4MB of size, what if we call it "devof12e-fat"?

Vlad, great to hear you finally got time to make an "universal" build. May I suggest incorporating the chips in my
old post
in this thread? Those are all pin compatible replacements, and availability may differ quite a bit depending where in the world you are located. Coding should be pretty straightforward from the datasheets.
Edit: fat may be misleading, my entry in the contest is devof12e-xl

Well, I didn't mean the size to be fat, but the file system!

I own a very modified F4, using PPM arduino additional inputs plus the recent mem mod. I don't know if it was just me, but I always had problems with stability of the devo.fs stuff. For me, the mem mod did the trick to raise the F4 to a reliable, full sized TX, plus the possibility to use it for FPV. I like it very much now! In conclusion I'd appreciate a decent build for F4/F7 also, but I'm sure there are not many other users out there so it might be not worth it...

Just for sure I would like to test two changes, step by step. Step #1:
* Enable auto detection for flash memory chip (Microchip SST25VFxxxB and SST25VFxxxA, ISSI IS25CQxxx, Winbond W25QxxBV)
Will be nice to get any reports, if it work (or not work).

I like devof12e-xms (Extended Memory Specification) more than devof12e-fat (or devof12e-xxl)

Hello,
Thank you Vlad for your work. I can help with testing - i have 2 F12E - one with a 4MB chip and one "original".
Please let uns know when your new thread is starting and i this Devof12E-XMS is good "code" for the new thread.

Original Devo F12E will not work with this "Step 1" build, probably next "Step 2" will work. It will enable full flash memory capacity, add 216KB to usable USB drive capacity. At any case original Devo F12E will be unusable with 64KB USB drive, but we can test auto detection for one more flash memory chip (SST25VF512A).

Yeah let me know. I've got a virgin F7 that if I can get more functionality I'd be ready to mod the memory to try.

Hi Vlad!
Just updated my F12E with an SST25VF032B to your "Step#1" firmware by using Deviation Uploader 0.8.0 with only "Install Library" option selected (or should a complete format be performed?).
It bootet with showing the correct Deviation firmware version, so I assume the chip detection worked?
A quick test showed also no problems connecting to a Frsky X8R receiver (EU LBT).

OK, it looks like all work fine. The filesystem at "Step 1" is not changed, so you need flash firmware only. If your Tx settings and models are intact, the file system is unaffected and flash memory detection is OK.

Just took a fpv quad out for a test, settings are correct and range is good as it was before.
Only for your Information: the previous firmware which was on the F12E, was the one from you, dated 08-18. Maybe that "prepared" something for the update which is not present on a "fresh" installed storage chip?

Just for sure I would like to test two changes, step by step. Step #2:
* Enable full flash memory capacity for Devo F-4MB series transmitters. It will add 216KB to usable USB drive capacity.
WARNING!!!
If you have Deviation F-4MB already installed, this build destroy Tx filesystem, so you need:
1. Backup the whole USB filesystem to PC.
2. Flash firmware
3. Format USB drive
4. Restore filesystem
If you forget to backup filesystem and flashed firmware, don't worry, do not format USB drive, flash old firmware and backup filesystem.
Will be nice if anybody can test this build with original Devo F series transmitter. I think you will get/format tiny (about 36KB), unusable USB drive, but we will test flash memory detection for SST25VF512A chip.

Thanks, at least with Devo F12E all work well. I've tested flash memory auto detection with Devo 12s, it also work well, but that havn't great sense.
