There are 10 types of people in this world. Those that understand binary and those that don't.

PB, could you add a small indicator somewhere that indicates if deViation binds in X or 2 mode? Or let us know, does the DSMX setting fail back to DSM2? I see that DSMX has been added to dms2.c and not its own file, but I haven't really studied it to know if it fails over or not.
Cheers!

AFAIK if you choose DSMX, it won't fall back to DSM2.
If it is not possible, it won't bind...

can confirm this, tested with orange 6 ch.
it won't bind with DSMX only if selected DSM2.

Right. I prefer that the user knows what mode the Tx/Rx is in, and don't really like Spektrum's fail-over scheme.FDR wrote: AFAIK if you choose DSMX, it won't fall back to DSM2.

PB, it looks like RW9UAO implemented DSM2 and DSMX to some extent by different way. I'm not a programmer and don't quite understand what is the difference. Can you look at RW9UAO code?

argh!
orange 6ch use only dsm2. TX in a bind packet show his maximum feature. receiver answer back his type. and TX need to correct type of protocol based on answer.
if you set dsmX mode, bind receiver and all good, next you set dsm2 mode and rebinf receiver. all will bi good.
p.s. code uncomlete.
p.s.2 Влад, я не понял, чего происходит?

Is there any advantage to use DSMX protocol over DSM2 one? I am asking, because HK just start selling new OrangeRx DSMX receiver (R615X).

dsmx has better range and better resistance to interference. but its probably not all that relevant unless you fly something pretty big.

DSMX has better reliability in croud enviroment (big events), nothing more.

I just connected dsmx satellite (9645) with my Devo12s (4.0.1)
and i ran into some Problems:
I searched for bind methods (6 low pulses after 120ms for dsm2; start with tx held high 6 low pulses after 54ms and 64ms after that a 15ms high pulse for dsmx) i tested that and it works, i can bind.
dsm2 binds as serialrx_type 0 - Spektrum 10bit (1024)
dsmx binds with serialrx_type 1 - Spektrum 11bit (2048)
first: i can not get more than 7 channels to work (NAZE32 is my method of testing the output)
but here ist the real issue:
dsmx range and signal connection is so bad ... i am not sure if i want to rely on that with a model in the air.
i reduced TX power to min and the satellite begins to lose packets. 3m away and it starts to get really bad.
dsm2 is much better in the same conditions.
I just wanted to let you know about it ... has anyone tested dsmx satellites?

I have models with DSM2 and DSMX sats, with same type of receiver. I'll make a range test comparison.

i think you coolision is a atrong WiFi (more than 50 mWt) or video transmiter. i have cross fades beetwin 5.8 GHz video TX and dsmX. need to add some space.

Old thread, I know,
If I'm correct DSM2 does a hop between two frequencies, and DSMX like 24, maybe 23.
If one of those two channels DSM2 used gets hit with interference of sufficient magnitude, half of the control time will be lost, unless of course it would sense this and establish a new spot on the band on the fly. I don't think this happens, yet.
Consequently DSMX is a huge leap from DSM2.
