Need to calibrate sticks each time I turn on TX

Hi,

me again with an annoying little bug I can't find a solution to.
My devo 8s is repeatedly decalibrating the center values of all Stick input. If I calibrate the sticks all center values are put to zero. But if I then switch off and turn the TX on again, the center values of all cyclic channels incl. collective pitch are not equal to zero anymore.
See pictures

ee pictures attached.

Having used FW vers. 2.10 I have already upgraded to v. 2.11 meanwhile - with no changes at all.
Am I the only one with such a problem or does anyone know what I am doing wrong here or what I could do to not have to recalibrate each time I turn on my TX

It seems, that the fw can't save to the "tx.ini".
(You can try to change something in the tx menu, like language, brightness, bat. alarm, etc, and look if it is saved on powering off.)

Make sure the tx.ini is there, valid, and not readonly.
If it doesn't help, delete the tx.ini, and copy a new one from the filesystem zip file.

I've change language settings and they are being stored. TX.ini is set to archive. I had just reinstalled the whole filesystem due to my problem with the cyclic settings.
Do you think I should try to change the calibration values manually?

I've changed the zero value of chan. 1 with no change on TX at all. I does not seem to read the calibration values from TX.ini

This is my TX.ini

current_model=1
language=6
mode=2
brightness=5
contrast=5
volume=10
vibration=0
batt_alarm=4000
batt_critical=3800
[calibrate1]
max=3813
min=530
zero=2171
[calibrate2]
max=3549
min=354
zero=1951
[calibrate3]
max=3698
min=489
zero=2093
[calibrate4]
max=3867
min=569
zero=2218
[touch]
xscale=197312
yscale=147271
xoffset=-404
yoffset=-20
[autodimmer]
timer=20000
dimvalue=0
[countdowntimersettings]
prealerttime=30000
prealertinterval=10000
timeupinterval=10000
[telemetry]
temp=celcius
length=meters

and this is the original from FW2.10 filesystem

current_model=1
mode=2
[calibrate1]
;Aileron (Mode 1)
max=3813
min=530
zero=2171
[calibrate2]
;Elevator (Mode 1)
max=3549
min=354
zero=1951
[calibrate3]
;Throttle (Mode 1)
max=3698
min=489
zero=2093
[calibrate4]
;Rudder (Mode 1)
max=3867
min=569
zero=2218
[touch]
xscale=197312
yscale=147271
xoffset=-404
yoffset=-20

while I have set my TX to mode2 the calibration settings are still the ones given from default mode1. So it seems not to write calibration settings to Tx.ini as well.

That is very odd. What is the battery voltage shown on the main page?
Can you:
make a copy of your tx.ini
Change the calibration on the tx and then change the language and then shutdown
then compare the two tx.ini files?

Hi PB,

thanks so much for responding.

The TX.ini asked for you can see in my post above. This was copied after I had changed Language setting (which was put to German and obviously been saved) and where sticks had been centered (but here values did not change to previous version of TX.ini). So obviously my installation of 2.10 and 2.11 are neither reading the calibration values (since they do not even react to manual changes of the zero values) nor do they write values to the TX.ini.
My battery voltage is currently at 4.97V (must have been even higher at that time).

Are the "zero" values used at all? (They are all equal to the calculated midlle, which is suspicious...)
Try to manually modify some of the end points, do they effect the stick value...

I made another test by copying the TX.ini provided with the devo8 filesystem. I then made a new calibration where the values below were stored.

current_model=1
language=0
mode=2
brightness=5
contrast=5
volume=10
vibration=0
batt_alarm=4000
batt_critical=3800
[calibrate1]
max=3762
min=408
zero=2144
[calibrate2]
max=3626
min=358
zero=2003
[calibrate3]
max=3557
min=285
zero=1938
[calibrate4]
max=3701
min=423
zero=2080
[touch]
xscale=197312
yscale=147271
xoffset=-404
yoffset=-20
[autodimmer]
timer=20000
dimvalue=0
[countdowntimersettings]
prealerttime=30000
prealertinterval=10000
timeupinterval=10000
[telemetry]
temp=celcius
length=meters

The funny thing is, that these values are now being kept and the need to recalibrate is gone. Looks like there were some leftovers from filesystem 1.2 that were not replaced by overwriting with FS 2.1. Is it by any chance possible toadd a procedure that kills the actual filesystem on upgrading to a new FW version to make sure that only new FS-files are in place?

you can't (and don't want to) remove the filesystem on upgrade, since the models, icons, and themes should be preserved.

The things that should be upgraded for a major release are generally media/config.ini and tx.ini. Generally I recommend copying the entire media dir just to be sure.

I am glad it is working for you though.
