devo12 with rx1202 range problem? was created by Hexperience
Flew a plane yesterday with my devo12 and the rx1202 that came with it. Also had the telemerty module unstalled. Got to about 300 feet and lost all control. Lucky I had a plastic bag with me to pick up the remains... :(

Tx was set to 100mw. Anyone have range issues with this combo? I have been flying the devo12 a lot but all helis and an edge540qq so I never got very far away. It's been perfect up until now.

So how can I do a reliable range test before I try the rx1202 again?

Update... range checked an rx601 at 100umw and got about 15 feet. Range checked the rx1202 at 100umw and only get about 1 foot... bad rx... should have done that before... :(

Anyone know the math? If I get 10 feet at 100umw what should I get at 100mw?

Thanks...

Open up the rx and check the antenna wire, especially at the soldering point.

Square root from power change. 100uW -> 100mW = 1000 or 30 times of range

Opened it up and the antenna are connected with those micro connectors . (not sure what they are called).
Can't really tell if there is any bad solder points, the soldering is super small.

I'll just send it back to where I got it and see if they replace it.

I noticed when I have my TX antenna not pointing up, I also had a range problem. When it was in parallel to the ground, there were many glitches. As soon as I had it straight up, range OK.

I have the tx and rx antennas parallel to each other so that should be the best possible signal. I'll give it a try just to see but my plane doesn't stay parallel to the ground very much. ;)

Of course the place I bought it is telling me to read the instructions first before sending it back...
