Devo 10 and Walkera V450D03 Throttle was created by jhaleschuk
Just wondering if someone can give me a tip for my throttle problem. I'm running V5 software on my TX and when I bind my V450 Heli and throttle up from stop position, the throttle comes down as I increase past half throttle not allowing me to lift off. I think I may have a setting somewhere that isn't right. I am using standard settings on the v450 model config. and standard GUI. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks
Jim.

That looks like Tom Z's model.ini for the V450D03, it's probably a good one to use. So that's probably not the source of your issue. I presume you are using it in normal mode, that is Fmode is set to 0, which gives a straight throttle curve from -100 to +100. I think the pitch curve is ok, too, and it is normal to hear the motor work a bit harder just past mid-point as the pitch begins to push against the air.

For bench testing I suggest you remove the blades... don't run it a long time with the blades off, but you should be able to see the swash movement and blade positions as you test.

Has this heli flown with a different TX recently? Have you tried this with a different battery? This battery might not be able to support the current you're drawing. If it's a new heli, your dealer/seller should be able to help; if not, these aren't hard to work on but I don't think it's a good platform to learn on.

Lastly, if you have a 100-size CP heli, you can use the same settings for channels 1-4 and 6, to get the feel for what it should be. And a 100 does a lot less damage.

Maybe ESC throttle calibration.

Thanks for the tips. The heli has been flown before with this TX. I do remember using a different battery one that was quite a bit more powerful. Like a 3600 mah with the same voltage. I did run into a problem with it as it started smoking from the battery and engine area so never used it again and, I then changed the motor to a new one (stock motor) identical to the one that was in it. The heli was only slightly used when I bought it. I do have the swash plate balanced perfectly and the blades at 0.1 both blades so it appears balanced very well. I will check to see if its in F mode as I never thought to check that before. Will figure out where to find the f mode on it. Yes, newby here at 59 years old LOL!!

Thanks Gerry, I will have a look and see where its at or just re-calibrate. Much appreciation.

Fmode is the switch on your tx. It's usually set to 0, 1, or 2. For this model, fmode 0 is normal throttle curve, fmode 1 is idle-up1 and fmode 2 is idle-up2. You want to use normal mode if you don't have experience with idle-up.

I agree this could be an ESC calibration. The ESC needs to be calibrated to the new motor. I don't know the calibration for this heli.

As a barely-past-newby myself, I think it would be wise to look into a smaller, less complicated heli. Walkera makes a 120, and the XK110 is extremely popular right now with new CP flyers. I fly a couple of 100-sized models in the garage for practice so the 250 doesn't get as many crashes!

Wow, quick response, thanks so much I will look into this throttle calibration but it was the lack of throttle that made me finally change the motor as I thought the smoke and heat may have caused some damage to the motor previously.
