range problem with 7e and deviation was created by thefreak1980
Yesterday i flashed my 7e with Deviation 3.0. Everything worked flawlessly for me. Today I made some tests und recognized that the range is very low. Not even 10 meters, bound to super CP.
In the Main Display it shows a power output of 150 mW. But in the Model setup menu I am not able to change the power. When I click on the field for changing power there is only "standard" set. Then I was looking for the model inis in fielsystem , opens with text editor and there is 10 mW set. What can I do to increase power output?

There is a hardware modification you can do even if you don't have years of experience with electronic components.
You can read it here (please read the whole thread before starting):
Devo7e: Diode mod for better reach

AFAIK it should ignore any tx power settings, if your tx.ini disables the power amplifier like that:
[modules]
has_pa-cyrf6936=0

...but try to edit the model config file with a proper text editor (like Notepad++) to 150mW, and see if that help.

OK, tried this:

[modules]
has_pa-cyrf6936=1

Now iam able to set to output. But still on 150mW very low range (about 5 meters). Went back to stock FW and the same problem. Later try with DSM2/X receiver

No, you shouldn't enable the power amplifier if you didn't do the diode mod!
I suggested to modify the model.ini to contain 150mW as the tx power...

However if the stock fw's range is bad too, than there should be some hardware problem. ..
Have you installed additional RF modules?
Have you opened up the tx at all?

Tada :-) OK guys, sounds crazy, but replaced batteries and now full range. Went back to deviation 3.0 and everything is fine. Thanks

Maybe soon I will apply the power mod. I like the tiny stile of the 7e. It's perfect for my T-Rex 250. As standard I use a DX8. Tiny Models, tiny transmitter :-)

Put the antenna INTO the radio to have a better range.
If the antenna is parallel to the top of the TX, the range is better than if the antenna is pointed in direction of the model.
(Sorry for my frenglish  )

Devo 10 (+7e) owner. It's mine, please don't touch it with your big fingers
