Some questions about my DEVO 10 Tx....and a new Q!

Before I get all medieval on my DEVO 10's butt-tocks (Gump Fiction reference), I have a couple questions about some things.

1. Does the factory CYRF module need to be in place for another module, or a multi-module board w/ other RF modules to function, or will the F/W and/or Tx not function properly without it in place? It would be convenient to just fab up leads and a plug to insert into the existing module socket and leave out the CYRF module, as I don't need to fly with it at this time.

2. Is the header socket for the factory CYRF module strictly surface mounted, or does it have pins through the board too? I can see small pads to either side of it, so I am guessing that it is just surface mounted. If the factory CYRF module must be in place, I am thinking of using the pads on the board, instead of soldering other RF modules leads to the pins on the top side of the factory CYRF module, as it looks simpler to do to me and easier to segregate the additional lead connections.

Thanks for any advice,
RedSleds

1. Since there's no way to disable the factory module in the code you would get a "missing module" error at startup if you tried to run it without it in place. It may even give you more problems than that.

Not sure about question 2, I have a 7E not a 10 but I believe it simple plugs into a pin header (note do not take my guess as word either way)

New question:

Is 26 AWG wire too small for wiring in a Multi-Module?
Would 24 AWG or 22 AWG be better?
