DSMX has a different channel order other protocols, so if you create a new model and choose DSMX, then later change the protocol, the channel order may change! DSMX needs THR, AIL, ELV, and RUD (TAER) and most others are AETR. So it's possible the channel order has been mangled... Did you try creating a new model?
AUX1 is (I think) usually channel 5, but it may be set up as GEAR. You can see it working in the Transmitter menu, under channel monitor... Hit the right arrow to see the input monitor so you can see your switches moving.
On the 7e the 3way switches are called SWA and SWB. You can set up a mixer on (for example) channel 5, make it an expo/dr mixer and assign the switch SW A0 for the high, SW A1 for mid and SW A2 for low (be sure to keep them linked). Just adjust the scalar to change the output rate.

I altered the setting in controller software to AETER1234 which put the channels in order like you mentioned and can see one aux channel moving. but when i go into channel monitor I can only see one switch moving cannot see 3 way switches moving. I have gone into the mixer and altered it and can now see one 3 way switch moving. So will try again later to see if i can get other aux channel. Due to your post which has got me in the right direction.

I see you got it sorted whil I typed! Good! Would you mind sharing your model.ini file?
Here are a few tips, anyway:
Changing your model setup from advanced or going from heli to plane or back may change settings you don't want to change.
You can reverse any channel by going into the model setup, mixer, and on the left side you see the list of channels. Click on the channel name button, e.g. 3-ELE, and you will get a menu to reverse the channel, as well as options to set failsafe, safety settings, servo throw limits and subtrim. The User Guide chapter 9 has a lot of good info.
While you are in the mixer menu you can save the model by holding the ENT key for one long press.
There was a bit of a discussion on another thread for a similar model (QAV 250 running CC3D and an Orangerx DSMX receiver), but no one posted their model.ini file:
www.deviationtx.com/forum/model-requests...250-model-file#34771
The suggestion there was to set up a new model, make it a plane, protocol DSMX. Then in the mixer reverse AIL and RUD (in your case it seems you must reverse the other channels instead).

Just for the record, in the nightly builds we've added a "multi" type that you should use instead of the plane one. For 4.0.1, plane is the right choice for anything that doesn't need a pitch channel.
Do not ask me questions via PM. Ask in the forums, where I'll answer if I can.
My remotely piloted vehicle ("drone") is a yacht.

I downloaded the flip file ini and modified it I just need to give it a test outside before uploading ini file to make sure is A1 the only thing I have got to do now is try and include the quad icon as it had the bar graph channel monitor on the start screen which I have removed but can,t seem to get the icon to display. Unless I have to start with a fresh model as is is set to plane. I have set up my 280 QAV with orange ccm receiver using a F3 Pro racing flight controller using clean flight , just had to reverse one channel and yes like you said I did try and reverse by switching to plane but lost settings so done it your way. I have a blade 200qx just waiting for some parts so i will start from multi and do a fresh setup on that and will post ini files for both
