New FrSky XSR Rx was created by RedSleds
Does anyone have any idea if the new FrSky XSR Rx will be compatible with the FrSky or FrSky-V8 protocols?
www.frsky-rc.com/product/pro.php?pro_id=154

The FrSky website lists the compatibility as:
"FrSky X-series Module & X9D & X9DP &X9E & X12S in D16 mode." (I assume by "Module", they mean a FrSky Taranis Tx module)
"XSR is not work with D-series Module" (I think the FrSky-V8 protocol emulates the FrSky D-series transmitters, and the FrSky protocol is even older then the FrSky-V8, so perhaps the deviation protocols will not work as-is. Going to need development, I suppose.)
"The LBT version of XSR receiver is only work with FrSky D16-LBT Mode."

As far as I know, this Rx is not available yet, .....but maybe someone has access to a beta test unit and is also a deviationtx convert and protocol developer?

I am possibly interested in this Rx because it is very small, ....and has telemetry.

DEVO 10 - Multi-module with nRF24L01 +PA +LNA, A7105 +PA, & CC2500 +PA +LNA transceivers.
Nightly Build: v4.0.1-548bbf5 (6/9/2015)

The D16 protocol is not currently supported by deviation. The deviation "FrSky" protocol is the D8 protocol used by the D series receivers. Some of the X series receivers can do D8, but IIUC can't do telemetry in that mode. Similarly, some of the older V8 series receivers can do D8 and work with deviation using either the FrSky ot FrSky-V8 protocols, however none of them have telemetry of any kind.

The DIY multi-protocol module people have D16 in beta, and protocols do move back and forth between it and deviation. So I expect it to show up some day.

Do not ask me questions via PM. Ask in the forums, where I'll answer if I can.

It should be fantastic to add D16 :) !!!

So, .........does that mean that I will need to build a multi-protocol module, replace my regular multi-module, struggle through another steep learning curve, etc., etc..? :pinch:

Or do you think that there will be some development in the regular deviation fork and we will be able to communicate with XSR with the CC2500 that is on my current multi-module board?

Hello,
well I did't checked the forum. So I got a X6R, it's by default D16. But it's possile to jumper to D8. Unfortunatally I can't still not bind.

Did someone bind successfull with one of the new RX?

My configuration: Devo 7e, Multimodule + CC2500

1. Devo 7e Ultimate: Multimodule - CC2500, NRF2401, A7105 + Switchmod + 2x Poti
2. Devo 7e Ultimate: 4in1 Modul, still upgrading ;)

Ok, it seem's my CC2500 is not working, i got a D4R-II now and I can't bind this either...

I know it should work, a lot people using this combination. But I'm wonderings what's wrong. I'm using the MultiModule + CC2500. the other moduls working at least the nrf. So the MultiModule is working.

Do I have to ajust the frequency or telemetry settings to get a successful bind?

You shouldn't to adjust the telemetry, but there's a fine setting in the protocol settings that may need to be adjusted.
