How about Chinese translation? I can help to contribute.

You will need Chinese font? And message translation? What kind of encoding of the characters used? Unicode?

theoretically Chinese should be doable.
The font we use is called 'Ubuntu Narrow' and it should have full support for Chinese characters, though I'll need to import them.

What I need is :
a) what code-page and or unicode range of characters is needed?
b) copy one of the existing language files here, and provide me a utf-8 translated copy:
bitbucket.org/PhracturedBlue/deviation/s.../filesystem/language

you want to leave the lines that begin with a ':' and provide a translated version as the following line.

I'm not sure what other issues we'll run into, but we can start there and see how it goes.

I am working on the translation and produce a UTF-8 formatted text file for you to test.

Thanks, They look initially ok. I likely won't have time to work on the font stuff until this upcoming weekend though.

I looked at this some more. I could do a crude hack and get the specific characters in the translation files working quickly, but the CJK character set is too big for me to fit in available ROM. (You are only using ~280 unicode characters, but they are spread over a 20,000 character range).
Instead, I'll need to rework the font code to support reading characters from the SPI ROM instead. It shouldn't be too much work, and will make the fonts user upgradeable.

The translation I did is a first translation, it may not be very accurate and may need further change. So it is better to make the font character extraction flexible.

I've uploaded an experimental build with CJK characters here:
www.deviationtx.com/forum/5-news-announc...ld-fab82a525bdb#1895
It seems to be mostly working, although alignment is a bit off.
Let me know how it goes.
