Migration from Deviation 3.0 to 5.0 was created by OrbitalGolem
I've been a long-time Deviation 3.0 user with thousands of trouble-free flights on a Devo 8. The release of 5.0 has me wondering if I should finally upgrade. I fly helis and with DSMX. Outside of telemetry, are there other compelling changes in control algorithms, etc? I've been very impressed with the stability of 3.0 - not one glitch or problem since 2013.

Would Deviation 3.0 models be compatible with 5.0? Can I directly upgrade from 3.0 to 5.0?

Apologies if these questions have been already addressed.

Yes, you can go directly from 3.0 to 5.0, however there might be some incompatible changes (like the hardware.ini file), so if I were you I would read through the release notes since the 3.0...

Thanks for your reply. Have there been any significant changes or improvements to the control/mixing algorithms? In other words, any changes that I'd feel at the "stick" level when flying the heli?

No, I think the basics are untouched.
It has got mostly plus features and protocols, but I don't remember all the changes, so you rather need to go through the manual to see...

Don't move to release 5.0.0 directly, but a more recent build: www.deviationtx.com/forum/builds/6407-de...ith-latest-protocols

5.0 has still heli code + new template bug, you manually need to fix: www.deviationtx.com/forum/6-general-disc...eased?start=60#53953
